Abstract:ObjectiveOur objective was to compare wild and hatchery sourced Brook Trout Salvelinus fontinalis to determine the importance of source population on routine respiration rate (RRR), the major cost term in bioenergetic models.MethodsWe evaluated intraspecific variation in RRRs of one hatchery and four wild Brook Trout populations. Hatchery fish were obtained from the Bowden State Fish Hatchery in Elkins, West Virginia, and were the basis for the previously published bioenergetics model for the species. Wild fis… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
