Variation of Prolidase Activity: A Predictor of Neuropathy due to Diabetes Mellitus?

Abstract: Prolidase is a member of the matrix metalloproteinase family responsible for collagen turnover which is implicated in the pathogenesis of diabetic neuropathy (DN). 50 (F-16, M-34) subjects suffering from T2DM, 46 subjects (F-21, M-25) with Myara et al. (1984) p<0.001) and prolidase (t=5.968, p<0.001) were significantly higher in group 2 than in group 1.
