Variation of Structure and Optical Material Dispersion in Lead Borate Glass Containing Multi Valence Chromium and Germanium Cations.

Abstract: In pursuit of manufacturing glass having a high refractive index and low dispersion, a series of lead and borate glasses containing germanium and chromium oxide by composition 25B2O3-73.8PbO-xGeO2-(1.2-x)Cr2O3, with 0 ≤ x ≤ 1.2 mol.%, are prepared. IR measurements are carried out to explore the structure of as-prepared samples. The deconvoluted IR peaks revealed presence of bridging Oxygen up to x = 0.6 mole %. At x > 0.6 mole % none bridging Oxygen is the dominant. The dependence of the measured hydrostati… Show more

“…The non-linear refractive index n2 and the third order of nonlinear susceptibility χ (3) are important parameters utilized to achieve optically limiting behavior and are used in a variety of applications [22][23][24][25]. The increased values of n2 and χ (3) enhancing can be realized by different factors, such as the polarizable bond density and their orientations concerning the induced electric field, the material compactness (material density), the bond length of polarizable species, and the density of localized states [26].…”

“…Also, Khashan proved [15] that the error in his new technique is  0.003. In reduced method [16], the reflectance and transmittance expressed in terms of internal and external reflectance Rs and Rs' and transmittance Ts and Ts' of the slab interfaces respectively. "In majority of materials the coherence length of light is usually larger than the film thickness, the interference effect will be present [19]".…”

“…Recently, Abd-Elwahab et.al. applied the reduction method for determination [16] the optical properties of lead borate glasses and obtained the dispersive relation of refractive index in the wavelength 500 nm:3000 nm [16]. The reduction method for determination optical properties is applied for investigation the optical properties of Corning glass and silicon slap [15], and for a slap of hydrogenated silicon deposited on corning glass [17].…”
