“…The selection of specific traits can lead to the indirect selection of other correlated traits, potentially constraining the response of the desired trait (Conner, 2002;Fan et al, 2017Fan et al, , 2022Majidi et al, 2009) and interfering with evolutionary Crop Science changes and selection processes for associated traits (Deng et al, 1999). Nevertheless, in certain cases, simultaneous selection of correlated traits can be beneficial (Chen & Lübberstedt, 2010).…”

“…At present, the research of Iris germanica mainly focuses on the determination of physiological and biochemical indicators under abiotic stress ( Bo et al, 2017 ; Zhao et al, 2021 ), hybrid breeding ( Azimi and Alavijeh, 2021 ), phenotype analysis ( Fan et al, 2022 ), and exploration of flowering mechanism ( Fan et al, 2020 ). There are few studies on stress-resistant genes, and they are limited to the detection of gene expression ( Wang et al, 2021 ), and the function of gene has not been verified.…”

“…The hybrid plants showed a significant negative hybrid advantage in height, flower diameter and number of florets were reduced, but the overall ornamental traits of the populations were greatly different (Yang et al 2015). In bearded iris (Iris Germanica L.) hybrid progeny, in the FM2 × M2 (I. germanica 'Delta Lady' × I. germanica 'HD') hybrid combination, six flower characteristics (single flower height (HF), flower diameter (DF), fall length (LF), fall width (WF), standard length (LS) and standard width (WS)) were varied compared to the two parents (Fan et al 2022). In this study, the pink 'Rhododendron pulchurum 'Wan Xia' was crossed with the paternal white 'Rhododendron hybridum Hot' to create a group of hybrid progeny plants, and then the genetic diversity of the seprogeny plants was analyzed by combining examinations on both quantitative and qualitative traits.…”
