Variations De Durée De l'ANŒSTRUS De Lactation Chez Les Brebis De Race Ile-De-France

Show more

“…The males were kept in with the females during at least 1 h for each experimental group. Females standing at mounting by the male were considered in oestrus (Maulé on and Dauzier, 1965). Ovulation rate was evaluated by laparoscopy 7 days after positive identification of oestrus.…”

“…I), at the onset of the anestrous period, which extends from March to August [7]. On day 0, one male was introduced into each pen at 0800 h. Bucks remained with the goats for 15 consecutive days, and were exchanged between pens every 24 h. Estrus behavior was checked twice daily between 0800 h and 1000 h and between 1700 h and 1900 h, from day 0 to day 15 after introduction of the males [12] by focal observation of the behavior of the bucks. A female was recorded in estrus if she stood immobile when mounted by the buck.…”

“…In domestic ruminants, there is also some effect of the young on postpartum anoestrus duration (PPA), although the effect of nursing can only be evidenced during the reproductive season in species that show seasonal breeding [2,5]. For example, in sheep there is a positive correlation between nursing activity and PPA duration [6], and ewes and goats separated early from their young and submitted to milking, return to heat sooner than mothers that keep nursing [5,7], an effect partly due in sheep to an inhibitory action of PRL [8].…”
