“…Trace element data for sphalerite and other sulfides have also been used to identify zonation within an orefield or province (e.g., Monteiro et al, 2006). For some provinces, e.g., Zn-Pb deposits in the Eastern Alps, large volumes of trace element data exist for sphalerite (Viets et al, 1992;Schroll, 1996Schroll, , 1997Kuhlemann et al, 2001).…”

“…et al (2009) Kohno et al, 2008). MVT deposits were named after lead-zinc ore deposits in the central part of Mississippi Valley, U. S. A., for those having the following characteristics (Ishihara, 1985): MVT ores usually have very low contents of Fe (300~ 20,000 ppm) but high contents of Cd (3,000 ~15,000 ppm) in the sphalerite (Viets et al, 1992), or Cd 390 ~50,000 ppm with a mean of 4,850 ppm in the bulk ore samples (Schwartz, 2000). High In-sphalerite and pyrrhotite cannot be concentrated in MVT ores, because these minerals occur in a high-temperature environment of hydrothermal system (Ohta, 1995).…”

“…In this regard, Hall and Heyl (1968) and Viets et al (1992) reported differences in trace element contents in Pb-Zn ores from different mining districts, but all the deposits studied belong to a single model, the Mississippi Valley type. Hall and Heyl (1968) also found poorly-defined zonation, particularly in Ag and Sb, with regard to the supposed mineralizing focus (feeders) in the Illinois-Kentucky district.…”

“…Hall and Heyl (1968) also found poorly-defined zonation, particularly in Ag and Sb, with regard to the supposed mineralizing focus (feeders) in the Illinois-Kentucky district. Viets et al (1992) demonstrated a clear influence of the host rocks in the mineralizing processes, with some trace elements (Cu, Ga and Ge in sphalerite) characteristic of that phenomenon.…”
