Abstract:Oral submucous fibrosis is a chronic debilitating disease and a premalignant condition of the oral cavity. It is characterized by inflammation and progressive fibrosis of the submucousal tissue. The various aetiological factors are areca nut, capsaicin in chillies, micronutrients deficiency of iron, zinc essential vitamins and genetic predisposition. Through this article an attempt is made to include various treatment modalities related to oral submucous fibrosis.
