“…The simple analogue of pancuronium that differs only in that the ring A nitrogen is tertiary (thereby having lost its acetylcholine moiety) is about equipotent with pancuronium in its neuromuscular blocking action, yet it is nearly 100 times less potent in its ability to block the cardiac vagus and it has little or no action on noradrenaline uptake. This is the effective compound vecuronium (Figure 2, Durant et al ., 1979 ; Bowman & Sutherland, 1986 ; Miller, 1986 ), which is widely used in anaesthetic practice. It is free from cardiovascular effects in human patients.…”
