Venous Thrombosis Has a Constellation of Different Risk Factors: A Case Report and State-of-the-Art Review

Abstract: Splanchnic venous thrombosis and cerebral venous thrombosis are uncommon manifestations of venous thromboembolism (VTE) that have been associated with inherited thrombophilias. Hyperhomocysteinemia is an established risk factor for thrombosis, and methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) mutation is the most common genetic alteration in this condition.
