Vergleichende Diskurslinguistik. Methoden und Forschungspraxis

Abstract

In discourse analyses, corpus-linguistic approaches have proven to be extremely fruitful in recent years. However, in the case of multilingual analyses, for example when discourses on the same topic are to be examined in two different languages, the problem of comparing the corpus linguistic results always arises. In our approach, in addition to an Italian and a German-language corpus of press releases from the main political parties in Italy and German-speaking Switzerland, we are working with a parallel corpus of German-Italian in order to be able to use automatic methods to relate the lemmas typical of the respective languages to each other. It is interesting to see, for example, how important concepts in the discourses could be translated into the other language -and whether they actually occur in the other language. In addition, we use classical approaches such as n-gram and collocation analyses to reveal the important topoi and argumentation patterns in the current migration discourse and compare the differences and similarities of the discourses in the two countries.
