ZusammenfassungVerräumlichte Wahrnehmung ist im Alltag lebensnotwendig, wird aber zum Problem, wenn sie sich verselbständigt und in der polizeilichen Praxis handlungsleitend wird. Wenn die Polizei in Räumen, die sie mit Gefahr und Kriminalität in Verbindung bringt – und das sind meist solche, in denen Minderheiten und Randgruppen anzutreffen sind –, anders agiert als in solchen, die sie für harmlos hält, bedeutet das notwendig, dass Minderheiten und Randgruppen stärker kontrolliert werden. Über den „Umweg“ des „kriminellen Raums“ poliziert sie auf diese Weise tendenziell diskriminierend.
