Versatile electric fields for the manipulation of ultracold NaK molecules

Abstract: In this paper, we present an electrode geometry for the manipulation of ultracold, rovibrational ground state NaK molecules. The electrode system allows to induce a dipole moment in trapped diatomic NaK molecules with a magnitude up to 68% of their internal dipole moment along any direction in a given two-dimensional plane. The strength, the sign and the direction of the induced dipole moment is therefore fully tunable. The maximal relative variation of the electric field over the trapping volume is below 10 −… Show more

“…We have considered ǫ dd = 1.33, which can either be achieved by changing trap and atom number parameters or by tuning the interaction strength [19]. Indeed, one oscillation takes place in T = 2π/ReΩ seconds.…”

“…Without loss of generality, we choose a laser with a wavelength of 1064 nm as used by or suggested in Refs. [24, 32]. The two v = 0 polarizabilities are then α || = 1013.4( ea 0 ) 2 / E h or α || / h = 4.749 × 10 −5 MHz/(W/cm 2 ), and α ⊥ = 361.46( ea 0 ) 2 / E h or α ⊥ / h = 1.694 × 10 −5 MHz/(W/cm 2 ).…”

“…Initial experimental realizations applied electric fields up to a few kV/cm. Larger electric field apparatuses are now under development [9, 10] with fields above 10 kV/cm promising larger dipole moments and individual addressing and detection.…”
