Vestibular Function in Psoriasis Patients

Abstract: Introduction: Psoriasis is an inflammatory skin disease that is characterized by T-cell-mediated hyperproliferation of the keratinocytes. It develops through immune-mediated mechanisms and is defined as an immune-mediated inflammatory disease. The inner ear is susceptible to inflammatory attacks, and vertigo and dizziness can occur as a complication. There is little information about psoriasis and the vestibular system. Objective: This study aimed to investigate the cervical vestibular-evoked myogenic potentia… Show more

“…The inflammation cascade reactions may be involved in the pathogenesis of the otolith organ ( 31 ). The inner ear has a blood-labyrinth barrier, is connected to the cervical lymph nodes, and produces cytokines through the spiral ligament to participate in the inflammatory response ( 32 ).…”

“…The highest risk of bias was present in Bias in selection of participants into the study. The funnel plot demonstrated all points except one lying within the funnel, indicating little to no publication bias (Supplemental Figure 2 Pure-Tone Audiometry Eight studies (29,34,36,37,(39)(40)(41)43) were included in the analysis of pure-tone audiometry testing at different frequencies (250 Hz, 500 Hz, 1 kHz, 2 kHz, 4 kHz, and 8 kHz) (Fig. 2A).…”
