VGDD: A Virtual Grid Based Data Dissemination Scheme for Wireless Sensor Networks with Mobile Sink

Abstract: Wireless sensor network (WSN) is considered as the enabling technology to bridge the gap between the physical and digital world. Some of the applications environments of WSN require a mobile sink to operate in the sensor field where delayed and/or partial data delivery might lead to inappropriate conclusions and thus require high quality of service in terms of latency and packets delivery ratio. Majority of existing mobile sink based data dissemination schemes aim to prolong network lifetime whereas few scheme… Show more

“…Tunca et al [29] performed a comparative analysis of various hierarchical routing protocols supporting sink mobility i.e. i) Grid-based [6,[31][32][33], ii) Tree-based [7,[34][35][36][37], iii) Cluster-based [37][38][39][40], iv) Area-based [30,9,[41][42][43][44] routing. Yarinezhad et al [32] proposed a virtual grid-based hierarchical routing protocol i.e., VGB which is designed to reduce the energy consumption and network delay by optimizing grid-header nodes while supporting sink mobility.…”

“…The random movement of victims is considered with an obligation that the movements are generally linear. Khan et al 37 presented a grid-based dissemination scheme for WSNs. By exploiting the self-configuring nature of WSN, the technique enhances data delivery while employing only one mobile sink.…”
