Show more

“…Fungi of the genus Monacrosporium sp. (Monacrosporium sinense, M. thaumasium, Monacrosporium appendiculatum, Monacrosporium ellipsosporum) were evaluated by several authors, demonstrating effectiveness in the control of gastrointestinal nematodiasis of different animal species (Araújo et al 1992;Gomes et al 1999;Castro et al 2003;Assis and Araújo 2003;Melo et al 2003;Araújo et al 2006;Campos 2006;Araújo et al 2007). These results are also in accordance with the present work, since the OPG decrease was observed in the animals in the group treated with M. thaumasium.…”

“…infective larvae (P \ 0.05). In a recent work, Campos et al (2007) evaluated the viability of a formulation of M. sinense in the control of bovine nematode and obtained percentage of reduction in vitro infective larvae from 90.6 to 100%. In the present work, only the isolates SF53 and NF34 showed hyphae adhered to eggshell without egg destruction, characterizing type 1 Fig.…”

“…Monacrosporium sinense and M. thaumasium are predatory species with proved action as biological control agents against gastrointestinal nematodes in domestic animals (Araújo et al 2004;Campos et al 2007). Pochonia chlamydosporia is considered ovicidal and has been successfully used in the in vitro control of helminth eggs (Braga et al 2007.…”

“…Nevertheless, the development of fungal formulations economically practicable and easily applicable is a challenge in the implementation of the fungal species in programs of biological control (Campos et al, 2007).…”
