Vibration control of a flexible structure with electromagnetic actuators

Abstract: This work presents the model of a shear frame type structure composed of six flexible beams and three rigid masses. Fixed on the ground, outside the structure, two voltage controlled electromagnetic actuators are used for vibration control. To model the flexible beams, unidimensional finite elements were used. Non-linear equations for the actuators electromagnetic force, noise in the position sensor, time delays for the control signal update and voltage saturation were also considered in the model. For control… Show more

“…A small-scale structure, discretized by the finite element method, can be controlled using electromagnetic actuators, a voltage control system and a position sensor. So, a system describes by a bidimensional structure with three pavements, where only two beams per floor are adopted is controlled by voltage control (GRUZMAN and SANTOS, 2015). In another paper is verified the feasibility of controlling a flexible bar by means of the implementation of an electromagnetic actuator.…”

“…Thus, although the system is controllable and observable the solution related to such system is not effective. Source: GRUZMAN and SANTOS, 2015;BELEI et al, 2008. The Figure 4 presents the position of the pavements, without control system and with control implementation. The Table 2 describes qualitatively the relationship between observability, controllability and solution effectiveness generated by current control.…”
