Vibrational Overtone Spectroscopy of Metallocenes and “Half-Sandwich” Organometallic Complexes

Abstract: The FTIR spectra of ferrocene, ruthenocene, cyclopentadienyl manganese tricarbonyl (CPMT), cyclopentadienyl titanium trichloride (CPTT), and cyclopentadienyl iron dicarbonyl iodide (CPIDI) CCl4 solutions are presented at the first and second overtone region (Δv = 2, 3). The gaseous ferrocene, ruthenocene, and CPMT spectra are also presented at the third overtone region (Δv = 4) recorded by intracavity photoacoustic spectroscopy. Assignments for the observed transitions are suggested for the liquid and reevalua… Show more

“…Vibrational overtone spectroscopy has previously been used to study changes induced by the metal bonding in ferrocene and related compounds, , butadiene iron tricarbonyl, and chromium tricarbonyls of benzene and cycloheptatriene . With the exception of ferrocene and its related compounds, only the third overtone spectra have been recorded and analyzed for these complexes. The present study is a continuation of this previous work with a focus on cyclohexadiene iron tricarbonyl (CHDIT, 1 ).…”
