Vibrio paucivorans sp. nov. and Vibrio qingdaonensis sp. nov., two marine bacteria

Abstract: Two Gram-stain-negative, facultatively anaerobic, motile, rod-shaped and flagellated marine bacteria, designated strains DBSS07T and ZSDZ65T, were isolated from the surface sediments of the Bohai sea and Qingdao coastal seawater, respectively. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA genes, multilocus sequence analysis (MLSA), phylogenomic analysis of single-copy gene families and whole-genome data placed DBSS07T and ZSDZ65T within the genus Vibrio … Show more

“…Gas (2 ml) was extracted from the headspace using a gas-tight syringe (vici), and then measured by a gas chromatograph (Shimadzu GC-14B) equipped with a flame ionization detector [5]. The temperature range for growth was determined on MA plates by incubating at 10-45 °C (10,15,20,25,28,30,35,40,43 and 45 °C) for 5 days and at 4 °C on MA for at least 30 days. In the salinity experiment, distilled water was used to prepare synthetic marine ZoBell broth (5 g l −1 peptone, 1 g l −1 yeast extract and 0.1 g l −1 FePO 4 ).…”

“…The genus Vibrio, with Vibrio cholerae as the type species, a member of the family Vibrionaceae, order Vibrionales, phylum Pseudomonadota, is one of the most diverse groups. As of March 2024, the genus encompasses a total of 179 species, both validly and invalidly published (https://lpsn.dsmz.de/genus/vibrio), originating from various environments, including marine and estuarine waters, as well as various organisms [10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17]. Members of the genus Vibrio are generally Gram-stain-negative, oxidase-and catalase-positive, facultative aerobic, and have straight or slightly curved cells, which may be motile or non-motile rods, with the capability to reduce nitrate to nitrite [10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17].…”
