Vigilance state-dependent attenuation of hypercapnic chemoreflex and exaggerated sleep apnea in orexin knockout mice

Abstract: Exogenous administration of orexin can promote wakefulness and respiration. Here we examined whether intrinsic orexin participates in the control of breathing in a vigilance state-dependent manner.
