Vincristine-Cyclophosphamide Combination Therapy Positively Affects T-Cell Subset Distribution in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Patients

Abstract: BackgroundThis study aimed to analyze the T-cell subset distribution in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients and determine whether vincristine-cyclophosphamide combination therapy can positively affect their T-cell subset distribution to keep the disease in remission.Material/MethodsThirteen SLE patients with ‘low activity’ (SLE Disease Activity Index (SLEDAI)≤9), 17 SLE patients with ‘high activity’ (SLEDAI>9), and 15 healthy controls were recruited. SLE patients were treated with vincristine-cyclophos… Show more

“…Moreover, while cutaneous lupus responds to hydroxychloroquine, a satisfactory outcome with dapsone treatment has only sporadically been reported [4,5]. In the described case, dapsone treatment showed efficacy on skin lesions and the treatment was followed also by the complete remission of the other manifestations of the disease, without the employment of other immunosuppressive drugs [16]. …”

“…T cell can be divided into different subsets based on different surface antigens and antibody marked on the T lymphocytes. The level of CD3 + T cell reflects the total level of T lymphocyte, while CD4 + and CD8 + are major functional subsets of T cell [ 39 , 40 ]. CD4 + T cell represents helper T cell that helps lymphocytes differentiate and produce antibodies.…”
