Virtual Block Augmented Reality Game Using Freehand Gesture Interaction

Abstract: Augmented Reality (AR) manages to bring a virtual environment into a real-world environment seamlessly. As AR has been recognised as advancing technology, AR brings future changes to the learning process. The goal of this study is to use freehand gestures to create a virtual block game in AR. First of all, the stages of this study are to explore block games and freehand movements by using Leap Motion. Secondly, the design and development of Leap Motion virtual block games, and thirdly, the implementation of fr… Show more

“…Within this study, the hand gestures were tracked using a sensor tracking device that is being attached to the back of the handheld device. Meanwhile, [14] has explored the implementation of freehand gestures to create and interact within a virtual block game in AR. Other than selection, several other interactions were also included which are, translation, release, and rotation.…”

“…Therefore, object selection results in a direct single-touch experience that should be easy enough for individuals to understand. Freehand gesture in handheld device has been explored to allow users for the manipulation on the virtual object with their bare hand in AR [21,22]. Besides using ray-casting in touch-screen, it also be utilized in freehand gesture for the occluded object and distant object [23].…”
