Multimedia metadata describes various aspects of multimedia content, including formal and technical properties (e.g. encoding, format), information about the creation of content, the processing applied, its use, rights information and the structure and semantics of the content itself. The importance of these aspects depends on the role of the provider or consumer of the metadata and the stage in the media life cycle. Multimedia metadata is among others important for production, distribution, search and indexing of multimedia content.

With the emergence of diverse communities of practices as well as social networks nowadays, community satisfaction has been a crucial aspect to measure success of information systems. Based on the DeLone & McLean IS Success Model, we propose a community success model (CSM) to focus on various community factors. Among communities, online and video gaming which entertains people of all ages is part of the new media culture and builds up gaming communities consequently. Mobile technologies offer game players mobility and ubiquity to network with each other anywhere at any time and lead to emergence of mobile gaming communities. As proof of concept we apply CSM onto gaming communities. CSM is evaluated on our regular lab course Gaming Communities at the university as a case study. We analyze requirements from and offer support to gaming communities and assess the potential community satisfaction of outgoing prototypes through community communication monitoring and questionnaires.
