It is very important for an enterprise to understand its competence and improve it continuously so as to meet with competitive market environment better. The information of enterprise competence is also valuable for potential cooperation among different enterprises. However, this information is often not available for enterprises itself as well as other enterprises because there is not a set of general methods for modeling and management of enterprise competence. In this paper, we present a competence management system based on a common enterprise competence model (ECM), including competence modeling method, system architecture, model-based decision support, and core technology for system implementation.
