Visible light-catalyzed fluoroalkylation reactions of free aniline derivatives

Abstract: The electron-rich nature of aminoaromatic compounds and the electrophilic character of fluoroalkyl R F radicals allow for a special match in substitution reactions. We herein present visible light photocatalyzed fluoroalkylation reactions of aniline derivatives, with a study of the reaction mechanisms. The examples evaluated make use of different photocatalysts, such as polypyridyl complexes of Ir or Ru transition metals, organic dyes such as Rose Bengal, phthalocyanine-metal organocatalysts, or visible-light … Show more

“…Owing to their versatility and interesting material properties, metallophthalocyanines have made their way to the medical industry [1] . Conventionally, MPcs are extensively employed as photosensitizers, [2] in dye‐sensitized solar cells, [3] and as photocatalysts, [4] among a myriad of other applications [5] . Despite the wide study of MPcs, literature on rhenium phthalocyanines is scarce and limited to oxo, halogeno, and nitrido complexes [6] .…”
