Visualization Service Based on Web Services

Abstract: Scientific visualization evolved up to the stage where collaborative work in virtual coexistence of various experts has become unavoidable in identifying and solving specific visualization tasks. These problems encouraged us to research and define key aspects of visualization service which will enable collaborative work over the Internet. In this paper we define architecture of the whole system and unified interface for all requirements in such environment. Unified requests are sent to visualization processing… Show more

“…Nevertheless, only a few visualization systems provide practical methods to visualize volume data and interactively manipulate slices for remote collaborative teams, because large dataset and complex visualization algorithm are great challenges for an online system, especially when the client has poor computing performance, or unstable web connection, researchers need to consider and optimize data transfer and visualization method 25‐28 . In this field, medical imaging systems 29,30 that supports slice rendering and volume rendering are developed, solving the cooperation and crossplatform access problems in medical visualization systems.…”

“…In the case of Medical Imaging and other computing-intensive visualization scenarios, a partial solution has been the use of on-server rendering (Blazona & Mihajlovic (2007)). In this approach, the rendering process is performed in the server and its resulting image is sent to the client.…”

“…A GUI interface is described, where dynamic change of the visualization pipeline can be done by users. Finally [15] is a Scientific Visualization system offering web services facilities, but which is not based on a model. Thus visualization is seen as a whole process which steps can't be isolated.…”
