Abstract: Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is usually associated with cognitive impairment, neuropathic pain, and reduced brain‐derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) levels. BDNF via tropomyosin receptor kinase B (TrkB) exerts neuroprotection by activating protein kinase B (Akt) to inhibit glycogen synthase kinase‐3β (GSK3β).
