Recent research has shown that cohesive devices contribute substantially to writing quality and reveal L2 writers' information, such as first or native language. This quantitative study adopted a cross-linguistic approach to investigating the use of cohesive devices in expository writing by Asian EFL teachers compared to native English teachers. The study involved 80 participants from three different L1 backgrounds, including 28 Vietnamese, 26 Filipino, and 26 native English teachers. The Vietnamese and Filipino teachers were at a comparable level of English proficiency. Around 800 words were randomly selected from each participant's reports for analysis. Results from One-Way ANOVA showed that the Vietnamese and Filipino teachers used a similar pattern of cohesion with lexical cohesion being used most frequently, followed by reference and conjunction. In contrast, the cohesive devices used by the native English teachers dispersed more widely across five main categories. The results further showed that the native English teachers used more cohesive devices in writing than the Vietnamese and Filipino teachers separately. Results from the Independent-Samples T-test showed omission and redundancy to be the two most common error types by both the Vietnamese and Filipino teachers. The study has implications for L2 writing and pedagogy.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui seberapa efektif penggunaan perpustakaan sekolah untuk meningkatkan minat baca siswa di sekolah dasar. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Melalui studi pustaka, data dikumpulkan dan dianalisis secara deskriptif dan analitis untuk memahami fenomena dan variabel yang mempengaruhi minat baca siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemanfaatan perpustakaan sekolah secara efektif dapat meningkatkan minat baca siswa, yang ditunjukkan dengan peningkatan jumlah buku yang dibaca siswa dan frekuensi kunjungan mereka ke perpustakaan, serta tersedianya buku-buku yang menarik dan fasilitas perpustakaan yang memadai.

The aim of the study is to determine the academic reading experiences of graduate students of Turkish education. The study's data is provided in the context of the principles of the Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) method. The information has been collected through depth IMterview with 20 students who have studied postgraduate in Turkish education at different universities and determined by the criterion-sampling approach. The context analysis principles have been used to analyze the data. There is evidence that graduate students favor reading academic articles and theses. The project and evaluation essays have been taken out of this class. Additionally, they searched the findings, discussion, and conclusion parts of academic literature for important information. They used this material by quoting, highlighting, marking, recording, taking notes, and crafting their phrases to represent it. However, it has been shown that students struggle with issues including reading various academic sources, identifying important information, comprehending academic language, and synthesizing data from several sources. In this context, in order for students to have academic reading skills at the graduate level, academic reading courses should be offered at the master's level and advanced academic reading courses should be offered at the doctoral level.
