“…Sugiura clarified that autoantibodies playa major role in melanocyte destruction via antibody-dependent cell mediated cytotoxicity (2). In a direct immunofluorescence test of a patient with VKH syndrome accompanied by psoriasis, Howsden et al demonstrated anti-IgG deposits in the intercellular spaces of epidermis and papillary dermis from vitiliginous skin, whereas those from the normal skin were negative (11). They stressed that the presence of IgG deposits in only the vitiliginous skin is noteworthy, considering the pathogenesis of VKH syndrome.…”
