The scholarly integrity crucial for the spread of information is undermined by cases of academics making deceitful commitments in research collaborations. This concept paper clarifies the issue of misleading claims in social science research, emphasizing the frequency of false claims by academics. Although knowledge spread relies on scholarly integrity, cases of fraudulent promises in research collaborations have been reported.
