Voltage Control of a 12/8 Pole Switched Reluctance Generator Using Fuzzy Logic

Abstract: This paper presents a voltage controller for a 12/8 switched reluctance generator (SRG). SR machines have a robust with simple structure because they have no windings or permanent magnets on the rotor, so they are capable of working at high speed application and at rough condition. However, due to nonlinear nature, doubly salient poles, time variant parameters, and non-ideal current waveform, The SRG output voltage inherently contains ripples. The proposed voltage controller is based on fuzzy logic that is ver… Show more

“…In industrial applications, the switched reluctance machine (SRM) has gained much interest. It is a good candidate for electric or hybrid vehicles, [1][2][3], electrical energy production, [4][5][6], in aeronautics, [7,8], and flywheel energy storage system, [9]. SRM has several advantages, such as robust construction without windings or magnets on the rotor, high reliability, low manufacturing cost, high torque, insensitivity to high temperatures, and fault tolerance, [10][11][12][13][14].…”

“…Данные машины обладают рядом недостатков, которые сдерживают более широкое их распространение, в том числе необходимость применения асимметричного полумостового преобразователя на IGBT-транзисторах, большого количества датчиков и довольно сложной системы управления с контролем фазных токов в зависимости от положения ротора. Все это усложняет систему в целом и увеличивает ее конечную стоимость, приравнивая к стоимости классического решения на основе синхронных генераторов с постоянными магнитами или электромагнитным возбуждением [5][6][7][8][9][10][11].…”

“…2014) (Zan Xiaoshu & Chen Hao, 2015), etc, has been applied to the aviation industry (Zhou Qiang et al 2007), electric vehicles (Liu Qiang et al 2005), wind power (Mcswiggan D et al 2007) and other fields. At present, the study of SRG mainly focus on problems of the optimization of body structure, the output voltage ripple suppression, the maximum output power control and so on (Choi D W et al 2014) (Faridnia N et al 2012) (Sikder C et al 2014). However, the study of the main circuit topology has not been paid enough attention.…”
