The quasi-reversible, diffusion controlled behavior of rosmarinic acid (RA) on a disposable pencil graphite electrode (PGE) was established by cyclic voltammetry. Using the anodic oxidation peak presented by RA on the PGE a differential pulse voltammetric (DPV) method was developed for the quantitative determination of RA. The linear range was 10 −8 -10 −5 M RA and the detection and quantification limits were 7.93 × 10 −9 M and 2.64 × 10 −8 M RA, respectively. The applicability of the developed method was tested by recovery studies and by the assessment of the total polyphenolic contents (TPC DPV ) of green, white and black Turkish teas, which were found to be 40.74, 30.04 and 23.97 mg rosmarinic acid equivalent/g dry tea, respectively. These results were in good agreement with those obtained by the Folin-Ciocalteu method. The developed method is a sensitive and cheap tool for the rapid and precise evaluation of TPC DPV of tea samples.

A stability-indicating photochemical method has been developed for the assay of thiamine (TH) salts in aqueous solution and in fresh and aged vitamin preparations. It is based on the photooxidation of TH by UV irradiation to form thiochrome (TC) in alkaline solution. e TC : TH ratio under controlled conditions of light intensity, temperature, pH, exposure time, and irradiation distance is constant and can be used to determine the concentration of UV irradiated TH solutions. TC, on extraction with isobutanol from the photodegraded solution of TH, has been determined by the UV spectrophotometric method at 370 nm. It exhibits a high intensity of absorption in the UV region that can be used for the assay of even low concentrations of TH. Under optimum conditions, Beer's law is obeyed in the concentration range of 0.20-2.00 mg/100 ml (R 2 � 09998). e limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ) are 0.0076 and 0.0231 mg/100 ml, respectively. e method has been validated and applied to aqueous solutions and vitamin preparations. e results have statistically been compared with the United States Pharmacopeia liquid chromatography method. It has been found that there is no significant difference between the two methods at 95% confidence level.

Thiamine hydrochloride, also known as Vitamin B 1 , is a water-soluble vitamin which is important biologically and pharmaceutically. A new simple and sensitive spectrophotometric method has been developed for the determination of Thiamine Hydrochloride (Vitamin B 1 ) in pure form and biological fluids. The method is based on the diazotization reaction of Thiamine Hydrochloride with Procaine HCl which reacted with sodium nitrate and hydrochloric acid to form a red water-soluble azo dye in basic medium, that has a maximum absorption at λ max = 507 nm. Beer's law is obeyed over the concentration range (2-60 µg.ml -1 ), the molar absorptivity of 4.047x10 4 L.mol -1 .cm -1 and Sandell sensitivity of 7.417x10 -3 µg .cm -2 and the method have an accuracy and precision between (0.02-0.16) while the relative standard deviation between (0.805-2.049). The structure of dye showed that (1:2) product was formed between the drug and diazotized reagent. The method was applied successfully for the determination of Vitamin B 1 in pharmaceutical preparations and biological samples. The results showed that the concentration of vitamin B 1 were decreased, in both blood and urine samples, with time after taken a therapy.
