The paper presents two components of developed quasi-dimensional numerical model: spray package penetration and gas inflow from the zone without combustion into the spray packages. Correction of spray package penetration along the fuel spray radial axis is presented and described numerically. Numerical model simulation is validated in several measured operating points of direct injection diesel engine, after which the simulation results are presented. According to numerical model settings, each fuel spray was divided into packages (control volumes). In the same time interval, the shortest penetration was obtained for spray packages located at the fuel spray edge. Before reaching the break-up time spray package penetration was linear and after reaching the break-up time, package penetration had a curved form. Later injected spray packages quickly reached and surpassed earlier injected spray packages because earlier injected spray packages hit "gas wall" in the engine cylinder and they were "braked" with surrounding gas in comparison to packages injected later. Gas inflow from the zone without combustion into the spray packages is the most intensive for spray packages positioned at the fuel spray edge. The simulation shows that the inflow mass from the zone without combustion increases for spray packages injected later.

Energy and Exergy Analysis of the Condensate Pump During Internal Leakage from the Marine Steam Propulsion System

A B S T R A C TAn energy and exergy analysis of the condensate pump from the marine steam propulsion system during the condensate leakage between pump stages is presented in this paper. Measurements from the steam propulsion system during exploitation were necessary for collecting all the data for the condensate pump analysis. Due to condensate leakage inside the pump casing, the producer specified condensate pressures at the pump outlet could not be obtained during the exploitation. Low condensate pressure at the pump inlet and condensate temperature slightly above the atmospheric significantly influences the pump exergy analysis. Increase in pump load resulted in an increase of pump energy and exergy losses and efficiencies. In the observed load range during the leakage, pump energy losses are between 19.88 kW and 24.78 kW, while pump energy efficiencies are between 11.12 % and 41.54 %. Pump exergy losses are slightly higher, while exergy efficiencies are slightly lower when compared to energy losses and efficiencies. During normal operation, without leakage, the pump energy efficiencies are from 5 % to 20 % higher in comparison with pump operation when the leakage occurs.

Change in Steam Generators Main and Auxiliary Energy Flow Streams During the Load Increase of LNG Carrier Steam Propulsion System

In this paper is presented an analysis of main and auxiliary steam energy flow streams from steam generators during the increase in steam system load at conventional LNG carrier. During the steam system load increase was presented differences in steam pressure and temperature between main and auxiliary steam flow streams. Energy power of the auxiliary flow stream is higher than energy power of the main flow stream only at the lowest steam system loads after which main flow stream takes over primacy at middle and high steam system loads. Cumulative auxiliary energy flow stream was divided on energy flow streams to each auxiliary device and energy power consumption of each auxiliary device was also investigated throughout number steam system loads. Analysis of steam production from marine steam generators presented in this paper provides insight into the operation dynamics of the entire steam propulsion system.
