Voluntary Noise Mapping for Smart City

Abstract: ABSTRACT:One of the main concept objectives of smart cities is to create a quality living environment that is long-term sustainable and economically justified. In that context, modern cities are aware of the exposure to various forms of physical and non-physical pollution that needs to be remediated, eliminated or reduced. To achieve that it is necessary to quality determine the sources and reasons of each pollution. The most prominent examples of physical pollution that affects the quality of life of citizens… Show more

“…Moreover, Zhu et al [20] presented a system, called iCal, for accurate noise level measurements based on calibrating smartphones. And researches in [8] created a real-time dynamic noise map based on 3D Urban Information Model. Recently, a data assimilation method was utilized by Hachem et al [19], for the purpose of generating more accurate noise maps that combine simulated and measured noise levels.…”

“…In recent decades, crowdsensing-based noise map applications have been successfully applied in monitoring noise pollution in the filed of transport, community, and industrial plants in modern cities [6]. For instance, some urban noise map applications have been implemented, such as industrial noise map [7], traffic road noise maps of the city of Split,Croatia [8], and noise maps of New York City [9].…”

“…The growth of city population has encouraged the development of new city management concepts of smart cities. The development of information and communication technology made it possible to implement those new concepts for the purpose of their sustainable development (Poslončec-Petrić et al 2016a). The energetic efficiency and sustainability represent one of the greatest challenges in modern city management, and it can hardly be possible to manage and plan modern smart cities without high-quality 3D spatial data and models.…”
