“…Although temporary intestinal occlusion has previously been reported (Gay et al 2004), this case involved the use of a 'first-generation' patency capsule, and subsequent design modifications to the capsule have significantly reduced the risk of this very rare adverse event. Delayed transit of the patency capsule without true small bowel retention has been documented as a failed test or study incompletion [407]. Risk factors for study incompletion include type II diabetes mellitus, gastroparesis, hypothyroidism and constipating drugs.…”
