“…Looking at Hamaekers’ data, a PACT of 75 cm H 2 O was detected using a cannula of 2 mm ID with a cross‐sectional area of 3.1 mm 2 . Assuming a circular shape of the trachea and a diameter varying between 7 and 8 mm in small children (18–22 mm in adults) (3), a cross‐sectional area of 38.5 mm 2 (adults 380 mm 2 ) would result.
