“…Component 5, in turn, the ‘insulin resistance component’, included only FG and WHR. This finding corroborates recent studies50 51 demonstrating that WHR is the best anthropometric measure to predict diabetes type 2. Curiously, PC5 did not include VFA, suggesting that FG in shift workers is more associated with WHR than with VFA itself.…”

“…12 In young children, WHtR is not superior to WC or BMI in estimating Body Fat%, nor is WHtR better correlated with cardio-metabolic risk factor than WC or BMI in overweight/ obese children. These data do not support the use of WHtR in young children.…”

“…In research settings, skinfold derived body fat percentages are used to calculate percent body fat and have been validated in healthy adults with correlations ranging from 0.71 to 0.82 when compared to DXA 17, 18 . WHtR has been shown to be a good index of body adiposity in adults 19 and has been shown to be a better predictor for cardiovascular events 20 and diabetes 21 than BMI. In a recent study of healthy individuals by Brambilla et al, while skinfolds was the best predictor of percent body fat and percent trunk fat, WHtR was a better predictor than BMI or waist circumference alone 22 .…”
