The wall atate stability of magnetic bubbles in fertimagnetic aagrown garnet film8 suitable for Bloch line "mory applications is inveatigated in order to predict the atability of vertical Bloch line p i t a . In the experiment (1,O) and ( 0 , 2 ) bubble8 are subjected to fast biaa pulues (15 ns width) and to an in-plane field Hip. It ia found that the winding line pair preaent in a ( 0 , 2 ) bubble can be annihilated, resulting in a (1,O) final atate. On thm other hand a (1,O) bubble c8a be switched into a ( 0 , 2 ) bubble w i t h different erperiment8l conditions. These non-conservative switching proceasea are in moat caaea irreversible. However the awitching probability never reaches 100%. An intarpretation o f the annihilation mechanism ia given and the conaequencea for devices are discussed.
