Walsogynes H–O from Walsura chrysogyne

Abstract: Eight new limonoids, walsogynes H-O (1-8) were isolated from the barks of Walsura chrysogyne, and their structures were determined on the basis of the 1D and 2D NMR data. Walsogynes H-M (1-6) and O (8) were concluded to be 11,12-seco limonoids with a dodecahydro-1H-naphtho[1,8-bc:3,4-c′]difuran skeleton, and walsogyne N (7) to be 11,12-seco limonoid sharing a unique dodecahydronaphtho [1,8-bc:5,4-b′c′]difuran skeleton. Walsogynes H-O (1-8) exhibited potent antimalarial activity against

“…Ring C-seco limonoids are found mainly in Melia and Azadirachta genera and are oen associated with signicant insecticidal activity (Table S1.6 †). However, in recent years, studies on the biological activity of ring C-seco limonoids (B143-B257) 81,89,95,108,116,117,119,[121][122][123][124]132,135,[137][138][139]141,143,[168][169][170][171][172][173][174][175][176][177][178][179][180][181][182] have mainly focused on the cytotoxicity, antiinammatory, antimalarial, etc., activities. More rarely, 1a,3a-dihydroxyl-7a-tigloyloxy-12aethoxylnimbolinin (B239) possess strong NGF-potentiating activities on PC12 cells at concentrations ranging from 0.1 to 50.0 mM.…”

“…So far, we have reported many novel compounds from tropical plants by our exploratory research on bioactive substances. Some of these compounds, most of which were indole alkaloids and isoquinoline alkaloid derivatives, have a vasorelaxant effect and may be useful as an antihypertensive. In the course of such research activities, we isolated six chromanones, calofolic acids A–F, from Calophyllum scriblitifolium bark that have vasorelaxation activity …”

“…The family Meliaceae has been known to produce various types of limonoids with medicinal properties. [1][2][3][4][5][6] In the course of our continuing search for bioactive natural products from tropical plants, [7][8][9][10][11][12] we have reported ceramicines from the bark of Malaysian Chisocheton ceramicus (Meliaceae). [13][14][15][16][17] Ceramicine B showed a strong lipid droplet accumulation inhibitory activity on a mouse pre-adipocyte cell line (MC3T3-G2/PA6), and antimelanin deposition activity against B16-F10 melanoma cells.…”
