Abstract

Solid waste management has been one of the most difficult challenges to address locally, nationally, and internationally for 10 years. Waste production will rise continuously with population and affluence. Poor solid waste management has caused disease outbreaks and environmental damage on the territory of Kosovo majorly the rural regions. Recent study on solid waste management and the environment suggests that Kosovo should legalize solid waste facilities with fines and incentives. This study examines how Kosovo War solid waste affected rural environments and people. It also suggests that future solid waste management research should compare private companies' efforts to those under government supervision, focus on technological innovation and waste management, and guide practitioners, policymakers, and academics in rural areas' circular transition.
