Water analysis

Abstract: This sixteenth review of the literature of analytical chemistry applied to water analysis covers the period from October 1972 through September 1974. The present review follows the plan of the previous reviews, the last of which appeared in Analytical Chemistry for April 1973 (.11); however, the editors of ANALYTICAL CHEMISTRY requested that the review authors cover their respective fields in a critical, selective manner, and mot attempt to provide an all-inclusive bibliography. The material used in preparing … Show more

“…For those elements forming volatile hydrides, the use of hydride generation for analysis has gained wide usage due to the improved sensitivities achieved over direct measurement of the dissolved species. The development and application of hydride generation methods for atomic spectroscopic analysis has been recently reviewed (2), and numerous applications of hydride methods have appeared in review articles (3, 4). The application of hydride generation for determination of a number of elements was summarized in a recent article (5).…”

“…This seventeenth review of the literature of analytical chemistry applied to water analysis covers the period from October 1974 through September 1976. The present review follows the plan of the previous reviews, the last of which appeared in Analytical Chemistry for April 1975 (9); however, the editors of Analytical Chemistry requested that the review authors cover their respective fields in a more selective manner and not attempt to provide an all-inclusive bibliography. The material used in preparing this review comes mainly from major analytical journals and United States Government publications.…”

“…In recent years, a number of reviews have appeared concerning methods for the analysis of nitrogen and phosphorus in organic matrices (5,6) and environmental water samples (7)(8)(9). The vast majority of methods reviewed involve the destruction of organic matter by chemical oxidation with the conversion of phosphorus and nitrogen to phosphate and ammonia.…”
