Water Pipeline Leakage Monitoring System based on Internet of Things

Abstract: Water leakage detection of pipeline in the resident household is important to ensure that water supply networks can operate effectively. This paper presents an experimental investigation and prototype of a water pipeline leakage monitoring system based on a low-cost microcontroller, Arduino, with three types of sensors. The system will monitor the turbidity of the water before pump the water into water tank of household. Then, later if there any leakages, a notification will be given to the user either through… Show more

“…Meanwhile (Tadokoro et al, 2019) uses IoT for monitoring and control of water supply management. As with other researchers, (Che, Omar, Azir, & Kamarudzaman, 2021) was to design an air pipe damage detection tools using a pressure transmitter sensor which can be monitored from a smartphone screen. This tool uses two flowmeter sensors that are placed in positions before and after the pipe damage point to record data on the difference between the incoming and outgoing airflow.…”

“…The development of advanced microprocessors and improved signal-processing techniques are likely to result in a substantial boost in automation in the area of leak detection methods. Although researchers are using a wide range of sensors to collect data, accelerometer [12][13][14], acoustic sensor [15,16], flow [17][18][19][20], and pressure [21] sensor categories dominate the study area. Vibration sensors or their derivatives, such as accelerometers and acoustic sensors, are the number one choice for leakage detection and location research.…”

“…There is no communication aspect in this research, so the solution lacks real-time monitoring potential. To solve the issue of communications, researchers have included IoT in [17][18][19][20][21] research. In the articles [17][18][19][20][21], researchers have followed a similar trend: data is collected through single or multiple sensors and sent to the server at an interval.…”
