Water-Soluble Polymers of Acrylamide as Labeling Adhesives

Abstract: The adhesive and rheological properties of high-and low-molecular-weight polyacrylamides and the products of their partial hydrolysis were studied. The suitability of the hydrolyzates of high-molecularweight polyacrylamide as labeling adhesives in the glass3paper system was elucidated.

“…It was shown previously that the gel fraction content in radiation-cross-linked PANH increased in the presence of Cu 2+ , Zn 2+ , and Mn 2+ ions, whereas the degree of swelling drastically decreased [3]. The effect was attributed to possible additional cross-linking of macromolecules of the acrylamide-sodium acrylate copolymer via donoracceptor bonds between the metal ion and the oxygen atom of the carboxylate group [3].…”

“…The effect was attributed to possible additional cross-linking of macromolecules of the acrylamide-sodium acrylate copolymer via donoracceptor bonds between the metal ion and the oxygen atom of the carboxylate group [3]. Later, the formation of metal-polymer complexes was proved by 13 C NMR spectroscopy for copolymers of acrylamide with sodium acrylate even with a very low content of carboxylate groups (3 mol %) [7].…”
