Weak-lensing magnification of Type Ia supernovae from the Pantheon sample

Abstract: Using data from the Pantheon SN Ia compilation and the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS), we propose an estimator for weak lensing convergence incorporating positional and photometric data of foreground galaxies. The correlation between this and the Hubble diagram residuals of the supernovae has 3.6σ significance, and is consistent with weak lensing magnification due to dark matter haloes centered on galaxies. We additionally constrain the properties of the galactic haloes, such as the mass-to-light ratio Γ and … Show more

“…Not only the theoretical scenarios have been called into question, but of course, the statistical analysis on the 𝐻 0 measurements constitutes a significant fraction of the literature regarding the Hubble tension [332][333][334][335][336][337][338][339][340][341][342]. The most tricky discussion concerning the Hubble tension must be done considering the probes used for its measurement: Cepheids [11,[343][344][345][346][347][348][349][350][351][352][353][354], SNe Ia , lensed objects [407][408][409][410][411][412][413][414][415][416][417], Cosmic Chronometers (CCs) [418][419][420][421], CMB [12,[422][423][424][425][426][427][428]…”
