Wearable Artificial Intelligence for Assessing Physical Activity in High School Children

Abstract: Eighty one percent of adolescents aged 11–17 years are inadequately physically active worldwide. Physical activity (PA) recommendations for high school children have not been studied previously in schools in the Qatar region. The objectives of the study were: (i) to assess the level of compliance of the recommended PA and to assess if there are any gender differences; and (ii) to analyze the recommended step count compliance during school and non-school days. An observational cross-sectional study was conducte… Show more

“…Future work would involve analyzing the stress and heart rate variability values against sleep as we know during 2 https://github.com/SarahAzizAhmed/Wearable-AI-impact-on-Intermittent-Fasting- Ramadan sleep patterns are disrupted, this could be compared with data from outside Ramadan for correlation between different sleep habits and effect on stress and/or HRV. We did some preliminary analysis not reported in this paper on activity levels during Ramadan and outside of Ramadan but again found no significantly different changes, this could be due to activity levels in this population were deemed low for this age group as reported in our previous study within the same cohort [11], therefore remained just as low during Ramadan, which goes against previous studies concluding Ramadan is associated with reduced physical activity [12].…”

“…This problem has received worldwide attention, including researchers in physical activity. One of the current trends is studying physical activity using Artificial Intelligence technology (Ahmed et al, 2022;Maher et al, 2020). In its implementation, physical activity researchers utilize artificial intelligence through machine learning modelling.…”
