“…Also, higher tiller number observed in two hand weeding plots might be that rice was less competed with weeds. This result agrees with the findings of Kolo and Umaru (2012) and Hakim et al(2013) who reported that significant higher rice tiller production were consistent obtained from plots hoe weeded twice or thrice in all the years of their study and in all the growing seasons which attributable to better efficient weed control, which allowed the rice plants to develop well. This result also agrees with the findings of Begum et al, (2008) that recorded lower rice tiller count under weed infested plots.…”
