“…The retrospective study by Arthurs et al 16 examined 126 patients undergoing panniculectomy after massive weight loss and discovered that prepanniculectomy BMI was an independent risk factor for postoperative complication. Fuller et al 22 retrospectively examined 20 patients undergoing abdominoplasty after bariatric surgery and noted that 70% of their series lost additional weight (beyond the panniculus specimen) at 1 year. They attributed this weight loss to the rectus plication, as 86% of these patients reported feelings of satiety.…”
