This includes the use of nanocarriers for improving the efficacy of different pharmaceutical formulations including oral, parenteral, pulmonary, nasal, transdermal or topical formulations. In this article, we will discuss the research progress of nanocarrier-based drug-delivery systems as well as the diverse applications leveraging pharmaceutical nanotechnology in the most outstanding Egyptian laboratories and research centers. Among the laboratories most contributing to the field of nanomedicine in Egypt, Cancer Nanotechnology Research Laboratory (CNRL) founded in 2014 at Faculty of Pharmacy, Alexandria University is a good representative. The number of patients diagnosed with cancer in Egypt increases every year. Therefore, the CNRL researchers significantly enriched the cancer nanomedicine area with numerous studies, particularly for treatment of lung, breast and liver cancers widely spread in Egypt.
