ABSTRAKPT HBZ adalah perusahaan konstruksi yang terlibat dalam Program Nasional Jaringan Gas Rumah Tangga (Jargas). Perusahaan ingin memastikan terwujudnya rancangan rantai pasok yang tepat untuk material pipa PE yang digunakan dalam pembangunan jaringan gas. Penelitian ini memberikan langkah awal yang penting dalam proses perancangan rantai pasok, yaitu penentuan tipe strategi rantai pasok yang tepat. Analisis untuk penentuan tipe strategi rantai pasok dalam penelitian ini menggunakan kerangka ketidakpastian dari Lee. Ada dua dimensi yang dievaluasi berdasarkan kerangka tersebut, yaitu karakteristik permintaan dengan tujuh aspek di dalamnya dan karakteristik pasokan dengan sembilan aspek di dalamnya. Proses analisis pada setiap aspek berbasis data kuantitatif dan kualitatif yang diperoleh dari studi dokumen dan wawancara. Hasil analisis mengindikasikan bahwa pipa PE termasuk dalam kategori jenis produk fungsional dengan karakteristik pasokan yang stabil. Tipe strategi rantai pasok yang tepat untuk kondisi ini adalah efficient supply chain. Penelitian ini juga mengevaluasi keselarasan antara tipe strategi rantai pasok terpilih dengan strategi bisnis/bersaing dari perusahaan.

“…Many studies have shown that although well-welded butt fusion joints of HDPE pipes performed as good as their parent material in pipes in the short-term mechanical test such as tensile test and bending test, the slow crack growth resistance (SCGR) of the pipe joints was significantly lower than that of the parent material pipes [145][146][147]. Li et al [148] conducted test of cracked round bar (CRB) specimen made of parent PE100 and butt fusion welded PE100 and found that the SCGR of the butt fusion welded PE100 was lower than that of the parent PE100. Two reasons were given to explain the difference in SCGR: (a) defects were introduced into the butt fusion weld during the welding process, (b) the shorter fibres at the fracture surface of the butt fusion welded specimens.…”

High-density polyethylene (HDPE) is increasingly used for pipe applications owing to its lower cost and higher resistance to chemical corrosion and biological attack compared with metallic materials. Hence, HDPE with improved mechanical properties for pipe application were developed. In addition, additives are used to improve the longterm performance of PE pipes. Carbon black (CB) is one of the most widely used additives in PE pipes due to its low cost and absorption of UV which contributes to the resistance to photo degradation. However, it is difficult to achieve good homogenisation of HDPE and additives by the single-screw extrusion method. Insufficient homogenisation is observed as black (where HDPE and CB are well mixed) with white striations (only HDPE without CB); the white striations are called "windows". It has been shown that windows could lead to reduction of HDPE pipe performance and several methods have been developed to detect them. However, there is lack of study on the effect of windows on the integrity of butt fusion joints and there is only one method reported in open literatures which can quantify the window. However, this method causes material wastage.

Glass fiber reinforced polyolefin composite materials have many advantages regarding their performance and have been widely used in many fields. However, there are few reports on the simultaneously bidirectional self-enhancement of glass fiber reinforced polyethylene/polypropylene composite pipe. To self-reinforce the pipe’s circular and axial properties simultaneously, short glass fiber reinforced high-density polyethylene/polypropylene (SGF/HDPE/PP) pipes were extruded using a shearing–drawing two-dimensional compound stress field pipe-extrusion device. The effects of the rotating speed of the rotating shear sleeve on the orientation, heat behavior, microstructure, and tensile strength of the pipe were investigated in this paper. The microstructure was observed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and the crystal diffraction was analyzed using a polycrystalline X-ray diffractometer (WAXD), the heat behavior was measured using a differential scanning calorimeter (DSC), and the tensile strength was tested using a universal electronic tensile testing machine. The results showed that the shear induction effect induced by the shear rotating promoted the formation of the oriented structure of the crystal plate and SGFs along the circular and axial directions of the pipe simultaneously. Furthermore, it increased the crystallinity of the system, and self-improved the pipe’s circular and axial tensile strength at the same time.
