Pre-painted zinc or zinc alloy coated steel sheets are used from automotive to electrical appliances, because of their high corrosion resistance in many corrosive environments. There are many books and papers related to corrosion of the coated steels 1) 3). The weak regions of pre-painted coated steel sheets are damaged areas such as cut-edge face where formed during fabrication of products and scratch where formed during use of the products. In general situation, no further coating process carried out at the cut-edge face or scratched area. Especially, automotives are sometimes used in very severe corrosion environment and corrosion problems may be appeared at damaged area. However, Cr 6 ions related surface treatment and presence of Cr 6 related chemicals in paint reduce the corrosion rate of metals at the damaged area in many corrosive environments. The hazardous substances, such as Cr 6 ions, will be prohibited from using for industrial products by RoHS and ELV. If Cr 6 ions related surface treatment or chemicals will not use, the situation of damaged area of coated steels becomes more severe for corrosion. Therefore, it becomes very important to investigate corrosion behavior of scratch or cut-edge face of pre-painted coated steels 4), 5). The machining technique can form model scratch quickly and easily, however, these have disadvantages, such as formation of burr and difficult to control exposed area ratio of coating and steel substrate. To avoid burr and difference of the area ratio (S r S steel /S coating) between each sample,
