“…In their study, Balwan & Kour (2021), the authors claimed that wetlands offer benefits that no other ecosystem can, even though they are often weak, disease-ridden areas. These include chances for enjoyment and aesthetic appreciation, flood protection, coastline erosion prevention, natural water quality improvement, and free access to genuine items.…”

“…Wetlands, as mentioned before, have a wide range of functional values, both ecological and economic, each wetland depends on its location, size, and relationship to adjacent land and water areas (US EPA, 2016), and is crucial for both chemical decomposition and as carbon sinks (US EPA, n.d.). Their values include habitat for aquatic birds and other animals and plants, numerous threatened and endangered species; production of sh and shell sh; provision for agriculture; water storage, including mitigating the effects of oods and droughts; water puri cation; timber production; food production; education and research, and recreational value (Keddy et al, 2009;Davidson, 2014;Balwan & Kour, 2021) as well as recharging of aquifers. Some dominant greenhouse gases such as methane, carbon dioxide, and nitrous oxide play an important role in climate change, which results in global warming potential.…”

“…Wetlands provide socio-economic benefits to society in addition to fishing and recreational activities (Islam et al, 2023). They also maintain the nutrient cycle in neighbouring agricultural regions, improve water quality, sequester carbon, and reduce floods in coastal areas (Balwan & Kour, 2021;Mitsch & Gosselink, 2015;Reddy et al, 2010). The plants found in wetlands serve a critical role in the wetland ecosystem's food chain and energy flow.…”
